HISTORY OF THE RESTAURANT
Jardines Alberto Restaurant is located in a Carmen where the 19th Century Grenadine painter Ramon Carazo once lived. Alberto Carazo, son of the famous artist, adapted the Carmen in the 50's as a Showhouse room with flamenco, making himself one of the pioneers in Granada and hence receiving the Tourism Award for Merit in 1967, awarded by the then Minister of Information and Tourism D. Manuel Fraga Iribarne. In 1985, this delightful Carmen is converted into a garden restaurant with three terraces overlooking the walls of the Alhambra. Since 2005, Alberto Carazos’ children and also grandchildren of the famous painter, govern this restaurant where you will always be welcome.
BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Ramon Carazo was a Grenadine painter of the late 19th century (1896-1936), and is considered as one of the Spanish masters of portraits. He was a student at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts (Madrid). Carazo was an artist who belonged to the academic circle in the early 20th Century of Granada, a school that was characterized by his portraits, especially the colorful and popular characters. He was a disciple of José Larrocha and Cecilio Pla and contemporary of Francisco Soria Aedo, Mariano Bertuchi, Rodriguez Acosta.
